How to join our UserTesting community

We’ve partnered with UserTesting to hear more feedback from our community of Luno Labs customers. This collaboration is designed to enhance our product development through your valuable insights while giving you a sneak peek at what we’re working on, too. Here's everything you need to know about participating in our user testing programme.

How do I sign up?

  1. Make sure you're signed in to your Luno account first
  2. Go to our UserTesting sign-up page (only available to signed-in customers)
  3. Choose the option there that best applies to you

Tip

You should also enable Luno Labs if you haven't done so already.

What is UserTesting?

UserTesting is a platform that allows us to connect with Luno customers who can provide feedback on our products and services. By partnering with UserTesting, we can directly involve you in shaping the future of our platform. UserTesting will handle the coordination, scheduling, screening, and compensation of participants, ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience.

How does it work?

As a participant, you’ll engage in activities that help us refine and improve our offerings. Here's what you can expect:

  • Live Conversations where you’ll join us on a casual video call to discuss your thoughts on Luno's products and features.
  • Self-guided Tests where you’ll complete tasks on our website or app to test upcoming features. These tasks can be performed on any device, including smartphones, tablets, or laptops.

Each session can last between 15 to 60 minutes, and you'll be compensated for your time—up to $60 per session.

Who can participate?

UserTesting is currently available to our Luno Labs customers in Indonesia, Malaysia, and South Africa only.

Note

To participate, you must be at least 18 years old and have a PayPal account to receive payments.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to take part.

You need an internet-enabled device with a microphone. You can use your mobile for testing, but you'll need to download the UserTesting app first from the App Store or Google Play. You also need a PayPal account so we can pay you for each test you complete.

This varies from test to test, but each test shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to complete. Keep in mind that you need to give each test 100% focus. You can pause the recording at any time, so don't panic if you get interrupted.

It varies: you might receive a few invites for testing some months, and none at other times. We choose members of our panel depending on what we want feedback on, so the information you supply when you sign up is useful in helping us choose the right participants for each test. Test places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're able to help, you should respond straight away - although you don't need to take the test instantly.

All panellists are paid through Paypal. UserTesting recommends that you use a verified personal PayPal account. A typical test payment is $10 - we'll tell you each time in the invite how much we are paying for a particular test.

Don't worry that you'll be paid in dollars, this is because UserTesting is an American company. You can convert to your local currency in PayPal. The money usually lands in your account 7 days after a test is completed. Occasionally, PayPal can have delays of 24-48 hours on payments.

When you sign up as a tester, we'll never use your information for anything other than contacting you about tests or inviting you to take part in a test. Similarly, if we want you to test a feature of our app, we'll never use your actual account details, but give you a dummy account to use instead.

Any test invites or emails you receive as part of our testing panel will come from support@usertesting.com. We will never ask you to transfer money or share personal or account details with us.

Tip

If you're worried or unsure about an email you've received, please check it with us before responding or look through our phishing guidelines to see how to protect yourself against suspicious communications.

If, at any time, you decide that you no longer want to participate in UserTesting projects, you can delete your UserTesting account. See this UserTesting article on deleting your account for more information on how to do that. Alternatively, you can contact research@luno.com and we’ll remove you from our network.
