I signed up in Nigeria. Why can't I send my crypto?

If you’re a Level 1 verified customer, you can now deposit and withdraw Naira using vouchers, but this has an impact on your crypto sends.

What’s changed?

Previously, only fully verified customers could use vouchers to deposit and withdraw. Now, as a Level 1 verified customer, you too can invest in crypto using vouchers. However, while you can make Naira deposits and withdrawals, you won’t be able to send crypto anymore.

To send crypto, you must upgrade your Luno account’s verification level by verifying your identity.

Why do I have to verify my identity to send crypto?

Security is our top priority. Verifying your identity with Luno is necessary to ensure that Luno continues to maintain the highest standards of Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance. We comply with the same AML and KYC regulations your local bank does and these laws require us to take steps to identify and verify our customers.

This is why we’ll need to know a little more about you before you can continue sending crypto.

So how can I send crypto again?

The good news is that you can avoid any interruption by simply upgrading your Luno account’s verification level.

Here’s how

  1. Sign in to your Luno account

  2. On your Profile screen, navigate to Settings, then select Verification

  3. Provide us with some info about yourself to verify your identity

Once you’ve done so, you can continue to send crypto after 24 hours, enjoy higher deposit and withdrawal limits, and get the most out of Luno.
