Which documents can I submit to verify my source of funds?

As part of Luno’s KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) compliance measures, we may ask some customers to provide documentation demonstrating how they fund their Luno accounts. Here’s some guidance to help you through this process.

Accepted documents

You can provide us with any of these documents in PDF format. If you have multiple streams of income, you can submit more than one document.

  • Salary advice slips

  • Employment contract

  • Business income statements

  • Investment receipt/note/statements

  • A sales agreement for a property or business

  • Income tax return statement

  • Pension or social benefits statement

  • Rental agreement(s) with tenant(s)

  • Allowance/scholarship letter

  • Offer letter

  • Government subsidy approval

  • A copy of a testament, liquidation and distribution account, deed of donation, or a letter from an administrator or executor confirming an inheritance, gift or donation

  • Any other relevant documents which support your source of funds for deposits into your Luno account

Note

If you fund your Luno account by sending money from another cryptocurrency wallet, then you’ll need to provide an official wallet statement from the exchange or a screenshot of your wallet transactions.

Document requirements

When you provide supporting documents, we ask that you please make sure they meet these requirements:

  • Documents should reflect your source of funds in amount/value

  • Documents should not be older than 3 months

  • Documents should be provided in PDF format with an official bank or financial institution header

  • Documents proving ownership of the account should be in full format

  • Documents should not be tampered with (for example, do not black out information)

  • Screenshots from banking apps or of unverified application forms are not acceptable

  • Unverifiable documents and application forms will not be accepted

If we’re not able to accept your document, you’ll need to resubmit, which will delay this process.

Important

To help us complete the review process as quickly as possible, please pay careful attention to these administrative requirements as they relate to any document you provide to us:

  • Supporting documents are to be provided in full form, showing your ownership of the account to ensure the account truly belongs to you.

  • Supporting documents should reflect the transactions that fund your wallet and that you have mentioned in the form.
