In 2024, the Polygon Foundation announced that its long-awaited MATIC to POL upgrade would take place on 4 September 2024. Following the successful completion of this upgrade, we'll be updating how Polygon appears in your account to reflect the new POL ticker code.
What's changing?
From the 7th August 2025, you'll see "POL" instead of "MATIC" in your wallet, buy/sell flows, and exchange pairs (e.g., POL/MYR instead of MATIC/MYR).
What do you need to do?
Nothing. Your holdings remain exactly the same - only the display name has changed. If you previously held 48.15162342 MATIC, you now hold 48.15162342 POL with identical value.
You can continue to buy and sell Polygon as normal, and your funds remain securely stored in your wallet.
Anything else?
All other cryptocurrency services continue to operate as normal and no other cryptocurrencies are affected.
