Why is there a wait time for unstaking?
Every blockchain protocol has built-in rules regarding staking, including how long it takes to unstake funds. These rules are beyond Luno’s control and determine how long you must wait before your unstaked funds are available for withdrawal.
How does Luno reduce unstaking wait times?
We've designed our staking service to minimise the wait times set by external staking protocols. Waiting times depend on the amount of customer traffic in and out of staking. Where there is heavy demand for unstaking, customers may be subject to the normal waiting times of the protocol. When there isn’t high demand for unstaking, our internal processes will get your crypto to you much quicker.
When will I experience the full waiting time?
Luno will always do its best to give you funds back quicker than the protocol dictates, but sometimes this is not possible and you may need to wait longer.
