How to buy crypto on the Luno Exchange

There are three ways to buy crypto on the Luno Exchange: Market Orders, Limit Orders, and Stop-Limit Orders. In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to buy crypto using each order type, so you can trade with confidence and make informed decisions. But, before you start buying crypto, you’ll need to switch to the Luno Exchange. Here’s how:

• Luno app: Tap on your initials in the top left-hand corner and select Enable Exchange
• Luno website: Click on your initials in the top right-hand corner and select Exchange view

Here’s how to buy crypto using a Market Order

On mobile:

1. On the top left-hand corner, select the trading pair you want to buy
2. Select BUY
3. Select Market
4. Enter the amount you want to buy
5. Confirm your order by selecting BUY

On the web:

1. On the top left-hand corner, select the trading pair you want to buy
2. On the right-hand corner, select Market
3. Enter the amount you want to buy
4. Confirm your order by selecting BUY

Here’s how to buy crypto using a Limit Order

On mobile:

1. On the top left-hand corner, select the trading pair you want to buy
2. Select BUY
3. Select Limit
4. Enter the limit price: the maximum price that you’re willing to pay for the amount of crypto that you want to buy
5. If you're trading crypto/fiat pairs, the price will be in your local currency; for crypto/crypto pairs the limit is on the crypto that you’re using to buy another type of cryptocurrency, ie. using a Bitcoin denominated limit to place a buy order for Ethereum
6. Enter the amount you want to buy
7. Select your preferred Time in Force option
8. Select BUY
9. Confirm your order by selecting BUY

On the web:

1. On the top left-hand corner, select the trading pair you want to buy
2. Select Limit
3. Enter the limit price: the maximum price that you’re willing to pay for the amount of crypto that you want to buy
4. If you're trading crypto/fiat pairs, the price will be in your local currency; for crypto/crypto pairs the limit is on the crypto that you’re using to buy another type of cryptocurrency, ie. using a Bitcoin denominated limit to place a buy order for Ethereum
5. In the next field, enter the amount of crypto that you’d like to buy for the limit price that you’ve entered
6. Select your preferred Time in Force option
7. Select BUY

Here’s how to buy crypto using a Stop-limit Order

On mobile:

1. On the top left-hand corner, select the trading pair you want to buy
2. Select BUY
3. Select Stop-limit
4. Enter the Stop Price, the Limit Price and an amount
5. Select your preferred Time in Force option
6. Select BUY

On the web:

1. On the top left-hand corner, select the trading pair you want to buy
2. On the right-hand corner, select Stop-limit
3. Enter the Stop Price, the Limit Price and an amount
4. Select your preferred Time in Force option
