Absa Pay is an instant deposit option for Absa customers. It lets you make a payment directly from your Absa account into your Luno wallet without linking your bank account or entering card details.
Payments are processed instantly using Absa’s secure Pay by Bank system, and authentication takes place directly through your Absa banking app. Each time you make a deposit, you’ll receive a push notification in your Absa app to confirm the payment. After your first successful deposit, future payments can be authorised with just one tap, making the process faster and even more convenient.
How to deposit with Absa Pay
- Open Luno and go to the Portfolio tab
- Select your ZAR wallet and tap Deposit
- Choose Absa Pay from the list of payment methods
- Enter the amount you’d like to deposit, then select NEXT
- Confirm the deposit amount and fee, then you’ll be redirected to a secure screen
- Approve the payment via a push notification in your Absa mobile banking app
That’s it! Your funds will be instantly credited to your Luno wallet once you approve the payment.

Once you’ve completed your first deposit, future payments will only require a single tap in the Absa app and no additional verification steps.

Why can’t I use Instant Transfer or my Absa card anymore?
Absa has restricted crypto-related payments made via third-party open banking services (like Stitch LinkPay) and cards. That’s why those deposit methods are no longer available.
Do I need to link my Absa account to Luno?
No. You don’t need to link your account. Authentication is handled securely through your Absa banking app using your ID number, which Luno already has from your onboarding process.
Is Absa Pay safe?
Yes. Absa Pay uses Absa’s own payment rail and authentication process. You approve every deposit directly in your Absa banking app, so your funds and information are secure.
How long does it take for deposits to reflect?
