How do I link Luno to my Discovery Bank account?

Does this apply to me?

This feature is available for eligible South African customers with both a Discovery Bank account and a fully verified Luno account.

Luno has partnered with Discovery Bank to bring cryptocurrency investing and portfolio management into one place. By linking your Luno account inside the Discovery Bank app, you can manage your crypto alongside your everyday banking with greater convenience and visibility.

What you can do from the Discovery Bank app

Once your account is successfully linked, you will be able to:

Track your crypto portfolio

View your full Luno portfolio directly in the Discovery Bank app, including real-time value, money in/out, profit or loss, historical price movement and per-asset transaction history. You will see all assets held on Luno, even those not yet available for trading through Discovery Bank.

Make instant deposits and withdrawals with no fee

Move ZAR between your Discovery Bank account and your Luno ZAR wallet instantly, without any transfer fees.

Buy and sell crypto with ZAR

Invest in crypto by buying and selling supported ZAR trading pairs directly inside the app.

How to link your Luno account

Follow these steps in the Discovery Bank app:

  1. Open the app and select More from the bottom navigation
  2. Scroll to the Manage section and select Add Account
  3. Select Luno
  4. Review the Discovery Bank consent screen and continue
  5. You will be redirected to Luno. Sign in with your email and password
  6. Complete the authentication steps
  7. Accept the Luno consent request
  8. You will be returned to Discovery Bank where your account will now show as linked

That’s it! A confirmation email will also be sent to you once linking is complete.

How to unlink your Luno account

  1. Open the More menu
  2. Scroll to Manage and select Open Banking
  3. Switch off Luno
  4. Select Confirm

That’s it! You can relink your account later if you choose.

Having trouble linking your Luno account to Discovery?

The most common reason for unsuccessful linking is incomplete or outdated identity verification on Luno. You can check this by opening the Luno app and navigating to Profile and selecting Verification.

Make sure your account is verified and that no further documents or checks are outstanding. Your account must also be open, registered with a South African ID, and not in a duplicate or locked state.
