How is the ‘Most Bought’ list calculated?

The Most Bought list is a live section on the Crypto and Stocks tab that highlights the assets that have been bought the most recently.

It gives you a quick snapshot of what’s trending by showing the most popular assets, ranked from highest to lowest, based on total buying volume across all customers. In other words, it’s an easy way to see what the Luno community is most interested in right now.

How are the rankings determined?

The list is updated regularly and is based on a data-driven calculation. Here’s a simple breakdown of how an asset earns its spot on the list:

  1. We only count buy volume

Rankings are based on the total amount of each asset bought. Sell orders aren’t included; this way, the list shows which assets people are actively adding to their portfolios.

  2. It’s refreshed every 24 hours

To keep things current, we look at buy volume from the last 24 hours.

  3. Everything’s converted into USD

Because customers purchase assets in different currencies (such as USD or EUR), we aggregate all purchases for each asset and convert the total into US Dollars. This gives us one clear ranking, from the most bought to the least.

Note

While the ranking is based on activity across all customers, the final list you see is filtered to only include assets that are available for you to buy in your specific region.
