Luno processes local currency withdrawals at various times depending on your country or region. These processing times are shown in the tables below.
Withdrawal delays
After we’ve processed your withdrawal, the time it takes to reach your bank account depends on our banking partners or payment providers.
These third parties may experience delays for various reasons, including weekends or public holidays, scheduled maintenance, or intermittent connectivity issues. Unfortunately, these delays are outside of our control.
Check the Luno status page for any specific known issues causing delays.
Before you withdraw
When requesting a local currency withdrawal from Luno, please make sure that:
-
Your bank account details are up-to-date and correct.
-
The bank account you’re requesting a withdrawal to is your own personal bank account.
Your withdrawal will fail or bounce back to our bank account if these details are incorrect.

How to check the status of your withdrawal
You can confirm whether your money is still with Luno or whether it’s already on its way to your bank account.
To do that, go to Portfolio and open your local currency wallet to check if there are any pending transactions.
-
This means that Luno hasn’t processed your withdrawal.
-
In this case, your withdrawal should be processed during the next withdrawal processing time, as indicated in the tables below.
-
This means that Luno has already processed your withdrawal.
-
We’ve completed the payment instruction and it’s now up to the banks or payment providers to complete that transaction.

The role of a trustee and GIRO transfer
In line with the regulations of the Securities Commission Malaysia, the trustee plays a vital role in ensuring that our customers’ funds are kept safe and secure while using our platform. All withdrawal requests require final approval by the trustee before your withdrawals are processed via GIRO transfer (not Instant Transfer).
Therefore, remember that once your withdrawal is processed at the release time, it will not be instant, and will take some time for the payment to reflect in your bank account - depending on GIRO and interbank processing times. You should expect to receive your withdrawal on the same day if you’ve made the withdrawal request before 3.45 PM on that same day.
Note
If you’ve not received your withdrawal for more than two business days after it was processed, reach out to our support team with your bank statement or a screenshot of your bank transaction for assistance.
