A trusted device improves the security of your account as well as your experience by enabling Luno to send security requests directly to the Luno app.
Important security warning
Luno will never contact you by email, phone call or message, and ask you to remove a trusted device, passkey or disable two-factor authentication (2FA).
Impersonators often request customers to enable sends - this is a common scam tactic and should be treated as a serious warning sign. We recommend disabling the ability to send cryptocurrency when not in use. Luno will never ask you to enable it for account safety.
You should be highly suspicious of any communications claiming to be from Luno asking you to remove security features, especially if you have not contacted Luno support first.
The only time Luno may guide you through removing a trusted device, passkey or 2FA is after you have contacted Luno yourself to resolve an account access issue.
If you are unsure, stop and contact Luno directly through our official app or website.
For your security, some actions (such as signing in, changing your mobile number, or sending cryptocurrency) must be confirmed or authorised by you to make sure it’s not a fraudster performing the action on your Luno account.
Note
In Malaysia, Luno does not send authentication requests to your trusted device for crypto sends.
To do this, we may send a 6-digit OTP (One-Time PIN) or an authorisation request via either:
Push notification to the Luno app on your trusted device
Or email to the primary email address on your Luno account
Why do I need a trusted device?
A trusted device improves your experience by enabling Luno to send security requests directly to the Luno app on your smartphone via push notification - instead of sending them to you via email.
These security requests include:
6-digit sign-in codes to confirm a sign-in attempt
Authorisation requests for high-risk actions
What devices can be trusted?
Any smartphone that you use to access your Luno account with the Luno app, can be added as a trusted device.
Note
Make sure you’re not connected to a VPN when adding a trusted device. All devices must be on the same IP address. When prompted, ensure you authorise the action on the same device you want to add as a trusted device.
How do I trust my devices?
Sign in to the latest version of the Luno app
- On the home screen, select your initials in the top left-corner to navigate to your profile
Select Security
Scroll down to Devices
Choose the device to trust, then select TRUST DEVICE, and confirm
Complete the process by approving the authorisation request sent to you via email
Success! Your device will be trusted to receive all future security requests via push notification.
Note
While Luno recommends adding a trusted device, we will never ask you to register a particular device. Only add a trusted device that you personally recognise and can control. To avoid falling victim to scams, only trust devices that you own and never at the request of someone else.
How do I remove my trusted devices?
