Updating the email address linked to your Luno account is easy to do by following a few simple steps.
Note
When adding an email address make sure that you either use the same device to complete the whole action, or if you are using multiple devices make sure they are connected to the same router, and turn off VPN if necessary.
Step 1: Change your email address
- Sign in to your Luno account with your email address and password
- On the home screen, select your initials in the top left-corner to navigate to your profile
- Select Settings
- Select Email from the options
- On the Manage your emails screen, select Add new email
- Enter your new email address and select NEXT
Keep in Mind
We don’t accept Gmail, Hotmail, or Outlook addresses that contain "." (period) or "+" characters in the email prefix (the part before the @). For example:
- your.email@gmail.com 🚫
- youremail+alias@gmail.com 🚫
- youremail@gmail.com ✅
If your email wasn’t accepted, simply remove any "." or "+" characters from the prefix, and it should work.
Gmail, Hotmail, and Outlook ignore periods in the email prefix. This means that your.email@gmail.com and youremail@gmail.com are considered the same inbox.
Step 2: Authorise and finalise the change
You’ll need to authorise the email change so that we can verify that you did, in fact, initiate making this change. You’ll receive an authorisation request via either:
Push notification - if you have a trusted device
Email - to the existing email address linked to your account
Following the request will open an authorisation screen, where you can choose to approve or deny the change.
Once authorised, you will have successfully added a new email address to your Luno account. A verification email will then be sent to your newly-added email address. Click on the link in the email to verify your new email address. Once verified, follow these steps:
- On the home screen, select your initials in the top left-corner to navigate to your profile
- Scroll down to Settings
- Select Email from the options, and select your new email address
- Click on the three dots next to your new email address, and select Make primary
That's it! You’ve successfully updated your email address.
