How do I update my mobile number?

If you’ve changed your mobile number and want to update it or you’ve lost your phone, and no longer have access to your old mobile number and can’t log in to your original account, follow these steps to solve the problem you’re experiencing.

Note

When changing your mobile number make sure that you either use the same device to complete the whole action, or if you are using multiple devices make sure they are connected to the same router, and turn off VPN if necessary.

I've changed numbers and have access to my original account

Step 1: Change your number

  1. Sign in to your Luno account using your two-factor authentication code, if you have 2FA enabled
  2. On the home screen, select your initials in the top left-corner to navigate to your profile
  3. Select Settings
  4. Select Mobile number
  5. Type in the new mobile number and select NEXT
  6. You’ll then need to enter the confirmation OTP, which will be sent to your new mobile number

Step 2: Authorise the change

  1. On the Profile screen, select AUTHORISE under your notifications. You’ll receive an authorisation link via either:
    • Push notification - if you have a trusted device
    • or email - if you don’t have a trusted device. This will be sent to the email address linked to your account
  2. On the authorisation screen, select YES, CHANGE NUMBER to approve the request

Success! You've updated your mobile number.

I've changed numbers and no longer have access to my original account

If you’ve changed numbers, you may likely have mistakenly created a duplicate account. Not to worry, we can assist in helping you access your original account. 

  1. When selecting Mobile number from your Settings, a pop-up will display asking if you still have access to your old mobile number
  2. Select No
  3. You’ll be taken to Account recovery so that you can update your mobile number

Note

You’ll need access to your primary email and you’ll be required to confirm details associated with your account. It takes 48 hours for the mobile number change to take effect through account recovery. This is an additional security measure to ensure that it's actually you requesting the update.

If you receive an email notification and you haven't requested the mobile number change, please report it to us immediately.
