Our instant deposit option allows you to deposit money directly into your Luno wallet via Stitch in a matter of seconds. All you need is your existing online banking details.
Most major banks are supported, including Capitec Pay. This article will show you how to link your account and fund your ZAR wallet instantly.
How to make an instant deposit
Step 1: Link your bank account
-
Sign in to your Luno app
-
Navigate to Wallets and open your ZAR wallet
-
Select DEPOSIT
-
Choose Instant deposit
-
Select your bank (if you can’t find your bank, it’s not supported)
-
Sign in to your internet banking profile
-
Choose the bank account you want to deposit with and select Confirm
Tip
You may need to log in to your bank's internet banking website in order to accept the notice or terms and conditions displayed on the site before you can link your account.
Capitec customers
Stitch has integrated Capitec Pay into its platform, so linking your account will work slightly differently:
- You'll need to sign in to your Capitec banking app and approve the linking
- Linking your Capitec account will cost a once-off fee of R1.00, which will be subtracted directly from your bank account.
- Instant deposits from Capitec via Stitch are currently available for South African citizens only. This is because your South African ID number is required to authenticate the linking of your Capitec Bank account.
- Your Luno account needs to be verified to Level 2 or above to link your Capitec account.
Step 2: Make an instant deposit
-
In your ZAR wallets and select DEPOSIT
-
Choose the account you’ve linked
-
Enter the amount you’d like to deposit and select NEXT
-
Review the deposit amount and fee, and if you’re happy, select CONFIRM
-
Enter your Luno PIN and approve the payment on your internet banking account
Congratulations! You’ve successfully made an instant deposit.
Note
- When making a deposit with Stitch, be sure to complete the deposit within the Luno app instead of transferring funds directly to the Stitch beneficiary in your banking app. Making EFT deposits straight to Stitch’s bank account will cause a delay in funds being credited to your wallet.
- The recipient name will appear as ‘LPL’ on your bank statement.

Note
If you’re a Capitec customer, your Luno account needs to be fully verified with a South African ID number in order to complete your deposit.
The deposit fee is 1.4%.
Note
You may see a bank charge on your bank account associated with your Luno deposit. We've already accounted for this charge by reducing the deposit transferred from your bank account so that you don't bear the cost of this. You don't have to do anything, we will still allocate the full intended deposit to your Luno wallet.
Deposits can take up to 5 minutes to reflect in your wallet.
For instant deposits from Capitec Pay, the limit is R100,000 per transaction. The maximum limit for instant deposits from other banks is R30,000 per transaction. Keep in mind that limits based on your verification level also apply.
