What is Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET)?

The Artificial Superintelligence Alliance is a decentralised artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration which operates on the Ethereum blockchain. The project, which is the largest open-source, independent entity in Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) research and infrastructure, is dedicated to making the most advanced and powerful AI accessible to everyone.

Who created Artificial Superintelligence Alliance?

Artificial Superintelligence Alliance is a collaboration between three major blockchain-based AI projects: SingularityNET, Fetch.ai and Ocean Protocol. It was formed in 2024 to unify efforts toward developing Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), a form of AI that could potentially outperform humans in every task. While still theoretical, the vision behind the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance is to create a decentralised framework for developing such intelligence in a way that is open, democratic, and not controlled by any single corporation or government.

The Alliance was formed to unite the strengths of the three AI projects by merging their technologies and tokens into a single ASI token (known as FET) with a combined market cap.

The team includes SingularityNET founder and the CEO of the Alliance, Dr. Ben Goertzel; Fetch.ai’s co-founders, Toby Simpson, Thomas Hain and Humayun Sheikh; and Ocean Protocol’s co-founders, Trent McConaghy and Bruce Pon.

Their goal is to speed up the growth of advanced, decentralised AI by sharing data, working as a team, and reducing the control that big tech companies have over AI by allowing the community to manage it.

The team’s mission is to ensure that AI is developed in a way that is fair, open, and safe for all. They encourage individuals all over the world to engage with and help design AI technologies that operate effectively together.

How does Artificial Superintelligence Alliance work?

The Alliance uses Ethereum’s blockchain technology to ensure transparency, trust, and decentralisation, allowing AI development to be governed by a global community, essentially democratising AI. Through smart contracts and open data sharing, AI tools and services can interact seamlessly across platforms.

To maintain fairness and security, the Alliance uses a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, which allows participants to validate transactions and updates on the network. Token holders can stake their tokens to become validators, with selection based on the amount and duration of their stake. This system rewards long-term engagement and encourages wider participation, enhancing both decentralisation and network security.

PoS is energy-efficient and reduces the carbon footprint compared to traditional Proof of Work (PoW) systems, ensuring the Alliance remains sustainable.

What is Artificial Superintelligence Alliance’s native cryptocurrency?

The native cryptocurrency of the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance is FET. While the term “ASI token” is often used when referring to the broader project focused on artificial superintelligence, FET remains the core token used for transactions and governance. Originally part of the Fetch.ai ecosystem, a decentralised platform built around autonomous agents and AI-powered tools, FET now supports a wider alliance of AI-driven technologies.

FET is currently the single digital asset powering the new ecosystem. It has replaced the individual tokens previously used by Fetch.ai, SingularityNET, and Ocean Protocol before they merged to form a single alliance.

While the alliance will eventually rename FET to ASI, this transition has not yet been completed, which means FET remains the official and tradable token for now.

Once the transition is finalised, all FET tokens will automatically be renamed to ASI at a one-to-one ratio. The token will be used for staking, governance, payments, and accessing AI services across the combined network. It will also give holders a voice in shaping how the ASI Alliance evolves over time.
